Price…Quick…Brodeur…
What do these three goalies all have in common?
They are exceptional goalies who have consistently won at the highest level in the world - the NHL. You would gladly have ¼ of the career they have had AND they can put a check mark in each box below - can you?
The Ultimate Pro-Goalie Checklist | ||
|
|
Mobility - which is completely different from flexibility and if you don’t know the difference, then you DON’T have it (put an ‘X’). This is how Jonathan Quick makes those amazing split saves and can still walk afterward. |
|
|
Injury Resistant Hips - can you write out the ‘rotator cuff’ exercises you do for your hips at least four days per week? If not put an ‘X’. This is how goalies like Martin Brodeur have long, productive careers. |
|
|
Core Stability - put a big ‘X’ in the box if you do Crunches, Russian Twists or use the Ab Machine at the gym. Proper core stability is how Carey Price looks so smooth and relaxed when moving side to side in his crease. |
|
|
Strength - put a great big ‘X’ in the box if you use the Leg Press, Knee Extension, Hamstring Curl or Groin Machine - real goalies do NOT use that groin machine. |
|
|
Speed - if your speed workout is your toughest workout of the week, you are not actually training speed (put an ‘X’). If you want to transition from your butterfly to your feet like Jimmy Howard, you better be focusing on this area of your training. |
|
|
Stamina to last 60+ minutes - if you are going for a 30+ minute run or riding the bike for your cardio training then you better put an ‘X’ - this is okay for your high school gym teacher, but doesn’t train the type of stamina you need to still be making unbelievable saves right through overtime. If you want to battle hard for every puck like Tuukka Rask, then you better have the stamina to make those tough saves right ‘til the final horn. |
|
|
Confidence - that you have all the tools you need to keep your team in every single game. Every NHL goalie has this in some form or other from cocky to the quiet confidence of a Henrik Lundqvist. |
|
|
Consistency - anyone can have a good (even amazing) game from time to time - that can be chance, but look how fast an all-star like Roberto Luongo’s stock dropped when he loses his consistency. |
|
|
Mental Strength - so you can regroup when things are not going your way, so you can focus on your task and understand that letting in a weak goal in the first has no bearing on how many saves you will make for the rest of the game. Look at Carey Price he is always focused on making that next save, not what happened a minute ago. |
|
|
Passion and Dedication - to become the very best goalie you can be. It can’t be a wish or something that is left up to chance or luck. Goalies in the NHL are there because they have the passion and dedication to do what must be done to make it. Do you think Brodeur is still in the game for the money? |
It is okay if you have a few ‘X’s right now?
You know you are not perfect, but you have the passion to be much, much better; that is why you found your way to this page.
You can improve ALL of these key ingredients with the right system for development.
Look, I’ve been a strength coach for 20+ years and I know, beyond a doubt, that if you don’t turn those ‘X’s into check marks in the next 6-12 months that you will not be keeping up with the other goalies in your town who are earning NCAA scholarships or getting drafted into the OHL, in fact, you will be lucky to still be playing top tier AAA hockey.
There are just too many passionate and dedicated goalies out there who will out-perform and out-shine you every single time.
Every. Single. Time.
Watch out for the most common mistake (surprisingly)
Don’t Confuse Hard Work With Effective Goalie Training
The first NHL goalie I ever trained was Montreal Canadians net minder Jeff Hackett and he was an amazingly hard working guy.
He valued hard work, so it was almost lucky that I came into his world to help him recover from career threatening shoulder surgery. Because of the shoulder repair, we were limited in what we could do - no heavy squats, bench presses or lat pulldowns.
We had to start by building him from the inside out using the S4 system.
We transformed his mobility and his stability first and then added the strength, speed and stamina he needed as his shoulder recovered.
Instead of the long steady runs he had used in the past (because that was what he was told to do), we transformed his stamina using multi-directional movement drills emphasizing movement quality - using the right muscles in the right sequence.
Then we added complexity with read and react drills and hand-eye integration.
Our speed sessions actually made him faster rather than just wearing him down and burning him out for the next training session.
Have you ever felt like you were working hard, but actually getting worse? This is probably what was happening.
Because of Jeff’s passion and dedication he was able to return to the NHL and play injury free (other than a broken finger from a puck).
That was well over 10-years ago and since then I have been fueled by a passion for helping dedicated goalies excel and make the step up to their next level.
You know my particular passion is training hockey goalies, but the system I just described has worked with forwards, defensemen and even figure skaters.
I have been happy to help Matt Hackett and Nazem Kadri make their transitions to the OHL, to help Andy McDonald win the Stanley Cup and be named the NHL’s fastest skater and to help Figure Skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir win Olympic Gold and add two more silvers to their collection.
You have seen dozens of players who have followed these same training systems playing in the NCAA, OHL, ECHL, AHL, KHL, European Pro Leagues and the NHL. When are you going to join them?
Even If You Have Doubts That You Will EVER Make It…
You might think there is nothing you can do to improve your current situation. Maybe you are only 5’5” and constantly getting cut from the AAA or high school team in favour of the 14-year old 6’1” monster who can just stand in the net and make saves.
You are right, there is nothing you can do about your size right now, but you can develop the stability, strength, speed and stamina you will need when your hormones kick in and you sprout up 4-6” in only four months.
Feeling like a victim of your size only holds you back and keeps you from developing the tools you need when your opportunity arises. These training principles work equally well for goalies regardless of their current size.
Even Helps Pro’s Take Their Game To The ‘Next Level’
“Maria Mountain’s summer training program has brought my off ice training to the next level. After using her program I have had the smoothest transition from the gym onto the ice of my professional career.
Over the course of my summer program I was able to achieve my goals as the program changed and developed with me.
Her attention to detail of my specific needs elevated my strength and conditioning, eliminated a chronic injury and improved my flexibility. Not only does her program work for me in the summer but I consistently refer to specific movements and stretches during the season to maintain.
I look forward to another summer training with Maria and continuing to improve my game.” Carter Hutton, NHL Goalie
Achieved Two Year Goal In ONLY 2-MONTHS!
''I started with your programs after I skipped almost whole season due to knee injury. I always had problems with team off-season workouts and I felt that I worked too hard on wrong things. After I started your UGTVIP everything changed. I feel much better on ice. I have more confidence because I know I'm doing right thing. This program gives me exactly what I need step by step from first workout to the day I hit the ice in summer camp. This season I added also In-season Solution program and I made huge step forward in my career. I accomplished my 2-year goal in just 2 months. I play every game. I never even thought that I could have stats like I have now. I also got called to national team. I'm sure that I will keep doing this programs in next season. Thank you Maria!'' Ondrej Raszka, Polish National Team
You Are Not Alone. You Have Come To The Right Place.
In fact, I know that for most of you, this is not the first time you have looked for help. You may have asked your coaches for advice or visited a forum and asked for training ideas.
Some of you even have hired a trainer at the local gym in your quest to achieve your goals and live your dreams.
- You were told to do high reps and low weight so you wouldn’t get bulky
- You were told to run 2-4 miles for your cardio
- You were told you just needed to do yoga
- You were told you just needed to stretch
- You were told you didn’t need anything different from the Forward and D
- You were told to stand on a stability ball and juggle
- You were told to order one of those programs you see advertised on TV
When you followed the advice you were give, you failed to see results on the ice.
- You are still half a second late getting into position
- You still lose your mental edge during the late stages of the game
- You still see your teammates drop their head’s on the bench when you let in that late goal
- You still feel that you are not living up to your potential as a goalie. Too many pucks are ending up in the back of your net.
What If I Could Lead You Step-By-Step, Day-By-Day To Better Performance On The Ice? What If You Could Start Tomorrow?
INTRODUCING: ULTIMATE GOALIE TRAINING 3.0
I want you to resist the temptation to blame those who tried to help you in the past or yourself for waiting so long to get the program that is actually designed specifically for you as a goalie.
You didn’t know any better until now.
You made your legs stronger, but you were still slow moving laterally (especially to your right).
You did the work that was supposed to strengthen your core (your abs even felt rock hard), but you still had an aching back at the end of every game.
You did the interval training that made you want to throw up (a few times you actually did), but you were still getting slower and slower as the game wore on.
What they didn’t understand (and neither did you until now) is that a basic fitness program will make you fit, but will not prepare you for the rigors of goaltending.
Fitness is a great place to start, but you are ready to move beyond the basics, you are ready to unleash your potential and you better get moving because I can tell you there are goalies in your organization and your neighbouring organizations who are already have a head start on you.
I will lead you step-by-step through everything… |
Let’s say ‘Good-bye’ to patchwork training, where you wake up in the morning and think – ‘hmmmm, what should I do for training today?’
I have put together a fool-proof system that WILL improve your performance on the ice. Here is how it works…
- You are given a training calendar for both in-season training and off-season training so you can use the program year round.
- You take a look at your training calendar (included with the program) and see exactly what workouts you need to do on any given day so you work on the exercises you need and don’t just keep working on the exercises that you like
- Then you find the correct workout in your training workbook and review the exercises. Not sure how to complete the exercises, you simply watch the tutorial videos where I show you how it is done.
- You get training modules to improve your flexibility, stability, strength, speed and stamina, so you do not need to add in any extras.
- If you get to the gym and forget what an exercise is, simply check out the Quickstart video on your phone so that you never have to guess at what to do
- Record all your sets/reps/weights in the training log pages that are included so you can chart your progress from workout to workout.
Here is what one goalie had to say after only two months of training…
“It took me two practices to really get used to the ice again. On Wednesday I made one highlight reel save with my glove and after that I felt like I was always two steps ahead of the players because I was so fast. It felt so awesome to be a good goalie again :D”
That could be YOU in just two months…
Imagine this… instead of defaulting to just a drop and block, you have the luxury of more patience and time to read the shot. You let the play come to you and you have the stingy GAA to prove it.
It’s as if the game is moving slower.
Success on the ice leads to a cascade of events – your teammates greet you after the game with genuine joy on their faces. They are happy for you AND they are happy for themselves.
Just like you, they have dreams as well, they want to win and they cannot do that if you are not doing your job.
Even the coach singles out your performance as ‘saving the day’ when your D got lazy (or more likely ran out of gas) in the third and coughed up the puck for one clear break away and three odd-man rushes.
You used your goalie specific fitness and patience to slam the door and give your team the win.
Here is the secret to success…
- - you need to work consistently and hard on the right things.
Notice I didn’t say you had to just work ‘HARD’.
I said you had to work consistently and hard. Let me explain what I have learned in over 19 years as a fitness professional.
There are times when you need to work very, very hard, but there are also times when you just need to pay attention to detail and work consistently on the right things.
If you want a wider butterfly flare (without torching your knees), then you need to work on hip internal rotation – PERIOD.
Is training hip internal rotation excruciating? Will it make you barf?
No.
Is it exactly what you need?
Absolutely.
You see, it is the attention to detail; it is the laser focus on exactly what you need as a goalie that will make all the difference.
You are not 80% worse than the top goalies in your league; you are probably more like 10-15% behind them.
Paying attention to the details will help you make up that 10-15% and let you join the ranks of the top puck stoppers.
Programs that you see on infomercials and many of the new fitness trends give you workouts that are really hard, I am not disputing that, but being able to do 90 seconds of Chaturanga Push Ups will not make up the 10-15% you need to step up to the next level.
Let everyone else take the shotgun approach – you know doing some of this and some of that.
Meanwhile you have the opportunity to take a laser focus on your target and transform your performance on the ice.
If you are not sure whether you are making the same mistakes that most of your competitors are, take this simple test, if you answer “Yes” to more than one of the items below, the chances are pretty good that you are:
- You use a leg press to strengthen your legs
- You have used the ‘groin’ machine in the gym
- You run more than 3-miles at one time
- Your workout program came from the “As Seen On TV” store
- You don’t think you need to workout, you are THAT skilled
- You don’t foam roll
- You do not know what a “Squat Lateral” is
- You have a “Chest” day
- You do high reps and low weight so you don’t get bulky
- You don’t have an agility routine
- You don’t include hand-eye coordination training in your workouts
- You do not use dumbbells, bands or cables for 90% of your exercises
- You cannot point to your glute medius
- You do crunches for ‘core training’
- If I say ‘point to your core’ - you point to your abs
- You do not know the difference between flexibility and mobility
So if you answered “Yes” to two or more of these AND if you are serious about unlocking the potential to become an elite goaltender (it is in you right now), then I strongly suggest you keep reading, this is something you need.
The Scientifically Designed Ultimate Goalie Training 3.0 system will transform your play by…
- Giving you the mobility you need so that you can actually use your full range of motion on the ice while reducing the risk of painful groin injuries
- Developing the stability that let’s you express your strength on the ice
- Expanding your envelope of strength which is the first ingredient for increasing your speed on the ice
- Teaching you to apply your force more quickly in various directions so that you are quicker and more powerful in all planes of movement – even from a knee down position.
- Building the stamina you need in the muscles were you need them so you will be just as frustrating to the shooters at the end of the third as you are when the puck drops
And it will do all this without adding in a bunch of other stuff that is just meant to make you tired, while adding more wear and tear to your body.

The Ultimate Goalie Training 3.0 is not currently available, it has actually become something of a collector's item, so Maria gives you access once per year or so, but if you are looking for her most current goalie specific training programs that are updated every month, then check out the www.ShutoutAcademy.com.
You can give it a try for just $1 to see if it is what you are after, just click HERE
This program is entirely DOWNLOADABLE. You get instant access. Nothing is sent in the mail.
The elite players that I train privately through the off-season pay $1250-2200 per month – so, over 16-weeks that is a minimum of $5,000.
Even the players in my Turning Pro Strength & Conditioning group, which is a private online goalie coaching group pay $3000 per year for their program design. That program is sold out and has a waiting list by the way, so please do not email me asking to join right now. I will let you know when I open it up for applications.
I want to make elite level off-ice training available to as many goalies as possible and this is a perfect way to do that. If I only trained goalies in person, I could only reach 20-30 tops, this way I can help thousands and thousands of goalies win more games with fewer injuries, so it is a win:win for both of us.
I Am Not Another Internet Guru…
Did you know that some of the so-called trainers selling products for anything from fat loss to athlete training are not actually trainers in the real world? Some of them have never, ever earned a living as a fitness club trainer let alone as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I earn my living running my Revolution Sport Conditioning gym. That is where you will find me 5-6 days per week. I do not earn my living sitting in an easy chair creating make-believe programs online. This is why I offer such a solid guarantee. Just like at the Revolution Studio, I know my training style is not right for everyone. Some players want to work on what they want to work on. Some players just want to do things that are hard, so they can brag about how hard they work, even though they spend more than half of the games on the bench. You probably even hear people say, ‘but he works so hard!’ So let me remove all risk for you right NOW…
If you are ready…
If you are ready to stop ‘working out’ and start following a step-by-step training system that was designed specifically for goalies, then let’s get started today. Let’s start playing to your genetic potential today!
Sincerely Committed To Your Success,
Maria Mountain, MSc

P.S. Remember that words are just words, it is not until you put action behind them that progress is made, so if you are serious about taking your game up a level (even if you just think you are serious about it), take action, start today and stop feeling anxious before stepping on the ice. Take control of your own destiny and start working toward your potential.
P.P.S. Don’t forget that I have put all of the risk squarely on my shoulders with my 60-Day No Hassel, No Questions Asked, Full Money-Back Guarantee. So you could literally do the training for 60-days and then if you are not seeing amazing results on the ice, get all of your money back.

FAQ |
-
Do I need a gym membership to do the program?
No, you can do the training at home, but you will need basic training equipment like a good quality stability ball, resistance bands for strength training and some dumbbells.
-
Do I need a PhD in computer science to access the information?
No, you don’t need anything like that. As long as you know how to watch a YouTube video on your computer and Right Click then “Save As…” to download files to your hard drive you are good to go. Unfortunately, I don’t have my PhD in computer science either, so I am not usually able to answer questions about the software compatibility on your personal computer, but the video files are in .MP4 format so as long as your system can play those, you are good to go.
-
Is this program suitable for me 10 year old?
No absolutely not! I am not kidding when I said this is a pro-style program. The youngest athlete I would recommend this program to is a 14 year old.
-
What if I want my money back, you say there is a guarantee?
Yes there is a 60-day full money back guarantee, so if you are not thrilled with the program, simply request a refund from Clickbank.com. There are the folks who your money actually goes to. Remember to save the receipt that they will email you as soon as your payment is complete.
-
What happens after the four months? Can I do the program more than once?
You have a few options, you can try one of the other less strenuous goalie training programs I have out there or take a few weeks off and then repeat the program again, it is important to go back and build your foundation up again by starting at the beginning again.
-
I am 43, will this program work for me?
Yes, the program will work for anyone who is committed to following the plan consistently and using proper form. Keep in mind this is a progressive program so in the beginning it feels pretty good (some even say a little easy), but as I build you up, the training gets more intense.
-
I have never done off-ice training before, will this program be too hard?
As I mentioned above, it is a progressive program so the entire first phase is dedicated to helping you build a strong foundation for the rest of your training. As long as you are using perfect technique you will be fine.
-
I have done off-ice training before, will this program be too easy?
I really like getting this question, the answer is no. If you do a 300yd shuttle run as hard as you can, regardless of how much training you have done in the past, you should feel exhausted. If you do not, it is a lack of effort, not an abundance of fitness. Like everyone that I train, you will start with building a good foundation in phase one, this is where some players email me to say, it is too easy for me, I am very fit. Well, that is great, but remember, I am not trying to make you tired like the other trainers, I am building you up to be better and more injury resistant on the ice.
-
Should I train for a few months to get in shape before I start the UGT 3.0?
This is a delay tactic. You are trying to rationalize why you should not start today. You think that you will go running a couple times per week and start doing some push ups to help you get ready, but the truth is you are not going to do that. You are going to do nothing at all and end up in the exact same position next season as you are right now only you will be another year older.
-
How long do the workouts take?
On average the workouts will take from 60-90 minutes, however there are days when the workout will only take 45-minutes. This is an advanced program, you will not be able to get through it in 30-minutes a day, but you also will not need to spend 3-hours training.
